Things to do

The hectic Dunster night life consists of trying to find the stars and constellations; the sky at night is unusually clear and bright.

Things to do really depend on what you want. A ‘busy day doing nothing’ is easy to achieve and you can spend an enjoyable day visiting Dunster Castle, shopping, having lunch and walking around the village. For many, the most important thing is leaving the car behind.

The village has been accredited by Walkers are Welcome and there are some wonderful walks from the village, such as those in Dunster Deer Park. The South West Coastal Path starts in Minehead and Exmoor abounds with scenic days out on foot.

Dunster Beach is just 1 mile away and a great place to relax by the sea. Enjoy a family day out on this quiet unspoilt sandy beach, with over 200 quaint beach chalets, snack bar and ample parking. The New Steam Coast Trail means you can now cycle along the coast to Blue Anchor – a great cycle ride enabling you to get up close to the steam trains.

If you want something a little more energetic and different, try flying a Hawk. Want to see some Red Deer? Take an Exmoor Safari. Want to ride an Exmoor Pony, then visit the Exmoor Pony Centre.
